Prof. Dr.-Ing Christoph Butenweg is Professor for Technical Mechanics and Structural Engineering at the FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Germany. His research areas are: Structural Dynamics, Earthquake Engineering and Computational Structural Mechanics.
He is Chairman of 2 national code committees “Earthquakes, special tasks“ and “Earthquake safety of masonry structures“, Leader of Project Team 5 for the elaboration of Part 4 and 6 of Eurocode 8 (2018 – 2020), Member of the national code committee 06 – Masonry structures, Member of Working Group 1 „Masonry structures“ of TC250/SC8, Member of the Executive Committee of European Association of Earthquake Engineering (EAEE), Member of the executive board “Center for Wind and Earthquake Engineering” (CWE) – RWTH Aachen University”, Member of the Research Advisory Board of German Committee for Masonry Construction e. V. (DAfM) and more.
From 2006 he is Manager of SDA-engineering GmbH, Herzogenrath, while from 2021 he is also Visiting Professor at the University in Belgrade.
Prof. Butenweg is an author of over 250 national and international publications and 4 specialized books on Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering.
